Manchester United want to sign 20-year-old in January: report

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly aiming to bolster his squad in January with the signature of Bordeaux forward Malcom. The 20-year-old has been in impressive form for Bordeaux this campaign, contributing seven goals in 18 appearances.

According to The Manchester Evening News, the Portuguese tactician wants to pursue Malcom in the New Year as he believes the Brazilian could add the ‘missing piece’ to the United attack, despite his relative inexperience playing at the highest level.

Aside from Malcom, Mourinho also has his eye on pursuing a central midfielder next month, and Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Weigl and Christian Pulisic have propped up the shortlist, although the German club are likely to block a mid-season approach.

Both Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick are likely to part ways with the club at the end of the season, and Mourinho appears keen on having a readymade option in hand to supplement the likes of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera.

Meanwhile, M.E.N suggests that there could be potential exits during the winter transfer window with Henrikh Mkhitaryan clearly out-of-favour under Mourinho, whilst Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind have also been named as a potential candidates to be shown the exit door.
