According to The Sun, Manchester United are willing to sell Matteo Darmian this summer for £15m, with Juventus heavily-linked with his signature. The 28-year-old has become an outcast under Jose Mourinho due to a lack of playing time in the last 12 months and could be moved on from Old Trafford as a result.
Juventus, however, are so far unwilling to meet their asking price which is slowing down a potential transfer. The Serie A champions are eyeing up a right-back replacement after losing Stephan Lichtsteiner to Arsenal this summer but are reticent to pay £15m to bring Darmian back to Italy.
The defender joined United from Torino in 2015 and has gone on to make 85 appearances in all competitions. He’s also made 36 appearances for the Italian national team. Darmian was a regular in his first season at Old Trafford but never managed to convince Mourinho he should continue to feature.
Antonio Valencia instead has been first-choice at right-back and now Diogo Dalot has signed from FC Porto and will provide back-up to the Ecuadorian international ahead of next season. Darmian is expendable as a result, but he won’t leave United for less than his asking price, reports say.
