Manchester United have named their Champions League squad for the group stage with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and James Wilson among the surprise inclusions on the list, ESPN reveals.
United boss Jose Mourinho had earlier admitted that Ibrahimovic would not be fit until January, but it appears that he could potentially feature against the likes of Benfica, CSKA Moscow and Basel.
Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in his debut season for United last term before he sustained a nasty knee injury which ended his campaign in April. The 35-year-old was thereafter released from his contract in June, but his good recovery convinced United to offer him a fresh one-year contract last month.
Meanwhile, James Wilson is the other surprise inclusion in the 24-man squad. The 21-year-old suffered a serious knee injury in his loan spell at Derby County last term, but he has since made an appearance in a Premier League 2 game against Tottenham Hotspur on August 25.
Wilson made a stunning start to his Red Devils career with a brace on his Premier League debut against Hull City in May 2015 but his playing time has since been limited with his last appearance – coming in a League Cup clash against Middlesbrough – in October of the same year.
