BBC Sport football expert Mark Lawrenson fancies Manchester United to secure a point during Sunday’s Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge.
United secured a confidence-boosting 1-0 win over Tottenham in the Premier League last weekend, and this crucially maintained the five-point to fierce rivals Manchester City, who are leading the standings.
Jose Mourinho deployed a defensive approach during the 0-0 draw versus Liverpool earlier last month, and according to Lawrenson, a similar tactic could be deployed versus the reigning champions.
He told BBC Sport: “When United play against the other top teams away from home Jose Mourinho will always take a point – as you saw at Liverpool. That is the way he manages and that isn’t going to change.
“He will try to fight fire with fire when he can but at Stamford Bridge he will have everyone behind the ball.”
Manchester United failed to win against any of the so-called top-six – on the road last term, and Mourinho may require more than one point versus his former employers with City cruising atop of the table.
Pep Guardiola’s side face Arsenal prior to United game, and it would take a humongous effort from Arsene Wenger’s side in order to end the Citizens’ 14-match winning streak across all competitions.
