Manchester United star Nemanja Matic has stated that he is not overly concerned regarding what sort of reception he will receive on his return back to Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United travel to Stamford Bridge to square off against Chelsea this weekend and ahead of the clash, there has been a lot of coverage surrounding Nemanja Matic’s return back to his former club.
Matic decided to swap Chelsea for Manchester United over the summer and the move would surely have angered a lot of the Blues’ faithful as the midfielder joined a direct title rival without any apparent reason.
Now Matic has been speaking ahead of his return back to Stamford Bridge and has stated that he does not care if he receives a hostile reception from the home fans on Sunday as he is already moved on from Chelsea.
Matic told a news conference, “When I played there I always gave 100 percent and we won two titles together. I’m sure they respect that, but if not I don’t really care.
“I spent a good time there, three-and-a-half years, which is a long time, and of course it’s going to be something special for me to play again in that stadium, but now I’m on the opposite side, I have to be professional and do the best for my team. I don’t have to prove to them anything. I just have to prove something to my new club.”
Without the presence of Matic in the squad, Chelsea have clearly struggled while Manchester United have arguably been a lot better directly due to the contribution of the Serbian international at the middle of the park and it will be interesting to see what sort of a role he will play during the clash this weekend.
