£60,000-a-week star close to finalizing Manchester United deal: Player has begun house hunting

Matteo Darmian looked a certainty to leave Manchester United in the summer after clearly not being in the plans of manager Jose Mourinho early in the season. Yet, Mourinho was let down badly by the likes of Luke Shaw and Daley Blind in the left-back position, and it led to the return of Darmian.

Despite being a right-back by nature, Mourinho has converted the 28-year-old into a left-back just as he successfully did with Cesar Azpilicueta at Chelsea. Even though Darmian has become a first-team regular at United, a report from The Sun claims that the defender is very keen on a move to Inter Milan.

In fact, it appears that Darmian is so confident of securing a move that he has started hunting for a new house in Milan. Darmian is reportedly on a weekly wage of £60,000 per week. Even though it is a far cry from the reported £250,000/week made by the likes of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, it makes Darmian a very wealthy person indeed. As a result, he has asked his real estate agent to hunt for a luxury pad in the Corso Magenta area of Milan. A locality with plenty of options for the luxury buyer, it is reported that the player’s fiance Francesca Cormanni will be the first to move in.

The rumours about the house hunting do seem surprising considering that Darmian has managed to establish himself as a first-team regular after a lot of struggles. Inter Milan are thought to be keen on bringing in Darmian as a replacement for Davide Santon. The former Newcastle United full-back has a contract with the Milan club until the summer of 2018, and Inter are very keen on selling him now rather than lose him on a free.

As an Italy international, the return to his home country would also help Darmian remain in the eyes of national team boss Giampiero Ventura. Since making his debut for Italy in 2014, Darmian has featured in 27 games and has scored once. There was a real danger of the 27-year-old losing his spot in the national team owing to his lack of game time at United
