Manchester United have lacked a consistent left back ever since the departure of Patrice Evra.

As far as the latest transfer rumors going on in the media, the Red Devils are linked with a few quality left backs.

Few days back, France Football reported that the Old Trafford club are looking to sign French international and Atletico Madrid star Lucas Hernandez, who has a huge release clause of £72million in his contract.

On the other hand, reports in Spain suggest that United want to sign Spanish international and Barca left back Jordi Alba.

According to Don Balon, Jose Mourinho wants to sign the 29-year-old star to strengthen his back line at Old Trafford in the January transfer window. In another report (Don Balon), it is mentioned that the speedy full-back is obsessed with a move to Man United taking into consideration his current uncertain situation at the Nou Camp.

Alba is one of the best full-backs in the world. He has won every major trophy with the Catalan giants and Barca must hold on to him no matter what. As far as his national career is concerned, Alba has played 66 times for Spain and scored 8 goals.

This season, so far, he has played 3 La Liga games and directly contributed in as many goals (1 goal and 2 assists). His current contract with the club will expire in less than two years (June 2020) and it has a mammoth clause (FCB) of 150 million euros (£134million).

In your opinion, should United splash the cash to secure his signature in winter?

  1. £134 million for a 29 year old? This is typical Mourinho and another reason not to trust him with money. United need to hurry up and get a Director of Football.

  2. Why would Mourinho want to spend silly money on a left back when Shaw is beginning to deliver and his priorities must be strengthening the spine in the wake of Pogba’s shenanigans, Lukaku’s profligacy and no leader at CB?

More media nonsense in the absence of any newsworthy items.

    BACK MOURINHO!
