Jose Mourinho has gone on to reveal why he splashed the cash in order to acquire the services of Victor Lindelof this summer.
Manchester United certainly made a huge splash in the summer transfer window by signing the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the arrival of the quartet certainly makes the Red Devils one of the contenders for the Premier League title this season.
Fans of the Premier League are more than aware of the qualities of Lukaku, Matic and Ibrahimovic but Lindelof remains an unknown quantity and many are yet to decide if the Swedish international will become a success in England as he has not featured at all this season.
With Phil Jones suspended for United’s Champions League opener against Basel on Tuesday, Lindelof could well feature on the night and ahead of the game, Mourinho has gone on to reveal why he decided to splash £30million to sign the 23-year-old despite his obscure reputation.
When discussing Lindelof, Mourinho said, “Lindelof was the only one that I didn’t work with [before]. But in Portugal I control. I control inside information.
“I know the qualities of the people, I know many things about social life, about private life, I know because even without working for that, the informations are arriving.”
Lindelof is a player of great promise but is yet to adapt to life in England and the match against Basel will be a great opportunity for the young defender to prove his true worth to the fans.
