Jose Mourinho has made an indication that he is still interested in acquiring the services of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan.
Manchester United were widely expected to strengthen their squad over the summer following their disappointing 6th place finish in the Premier League last season and the Red Devils have certainly done that by splashing as much as £150million in acquiring the services of Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic.
Now it has widely been reported that Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic will be the player United will be targeting in the coming days and manager Jose Mourinho has gone on to recently drop a huge hint that he will be pursuing the Croatian international.
Speaking during a press-conference, Mourinho stated that he is happy with the three signings United have managed so far this summer but stated that he is still hoping to land a fourth name, hinting at a move for Perisic.
Mourinho said: “The squad is good and, as I told a few months ago, I was hoping for four players to improve the squad.
“The club did a fantastic job, absolutely fantastic, by getting three of them, which is difficult in the crazy market where we are now. To get three out of four, I thank the club for that. I would be happier if they gave me four of four but they did a great effort for me.”
There has also been speculation that United will have to give up Anthony Martial in order to acquire Perisic but Mourinho has gone on to dismiss the possibility of the Frenchman leaving Old Trafford.
He continued, “It’s to have a good squad with options and we have important players injured for a long time, they are going to be back just by the end of the year, so our squad is not so big and we need options, we need different players.
“Lukaku, Martial and [Marcus] Rashford are all different players and we need everybody and it’s going to be good, it’s going to be fun to choose the team for every match, according to the plan, to the opponent, to our gameplan.”
