Mourinho ‘Makes Phone Call’ In Attempt To Sign Midfielder

Despite protestations to the contrary Manchester United’s summer transfer business may not be at an end. Reports indicate Jose Mourinho is eyeing up a bid for Belgian midfielder Youri Tielmans and has even made a personal call to the Anderlecht youngster in a bid to lure him to Old Trafford.

The Telegraph notes:

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is interested in signing Anderlecht’s teenage prodigy Youri Tielemans, according to his former teammate Lukasz Plonowsk.

Tielemans, 19, is one of Europe’s brightest prospects, and another talent to emerge from the Anderlecht academy.

After breaking into the Anderlecht first team aged 16, a pletgora of Europe’s top clubs have been tracking his progress, and now, it appears that United are the latest club to join that list.

Plonowsk, who now plays for Wisla, claims that Tielemans told him that he received a phonecall from the United boss in an attempt to lure him to Old Trafford.

With Adnan Januzaj recently making a season long move to Sunderland, the Reds could be in the market for another attacking midfielder, although it remains to be seen whether Mourinho has finished trimming his squad yet. Bastian Schweinsteiger, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera have all been linked with moves away from Old Trafford and it remains to be seen just how much faith the manager has in some of his younger players. Tielemans is undoubtedly a talented prospect but will the United boss go back on two of his promises? One to give the Reds’ younger players a chance and two that his transfer business is done.
