Jose ‘plans irrevocable offer’ to convince £62million-rated defender leave club this summer

According to Don Balon, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is planning an ‘irrevocable offer’ to convince Raphael Varane to leave Real Madrid this summer.

Mourinho is looking to bolster his backline this summer as United could be losing a number of defenders and a world-class centre-back like Varane would be an immediate improvement.

Daley Blind has struggled for playing time this season and could be sold this summer for the right price. Marcos Rojo has also been on the periphery in 2017/18 having fallen down the pecking order under Mourinho.

Even new-boy Victor Lindelof could be on his way out, albeit temporarily, after an underwhelming debut season Old Trafford. It could leave United with only Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly as their defensive options for next season, so a new face is desperately required.

The £62m-rated defender joined Real from RC Lens in 2011 and has gone on to make 232 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos. The French international made 43 appearances across the board this season and is a player president Florentino Perez and head coach Zinedine Zidane clearly want to keep.

Nevertheless, Don Balon say Mourinho will do everything he can to land Varane’s signature.
