I’m not sure who’s great idea it was having the United game kick off at 12:45 on New Years Day but I’m sure there’s a few people who wouldn’t thank the person responsible…given the collection of bleary eyes populating the coach.
On the face of the game I’m not sure who was out drinking more last night:
The fans or the team!
Everyone was in the best of spirits but the game won’t live long in the memory. It was easily the worst performance I’ve seen United turn in away from home this season…but we won. What was that well worn quote: “Football. Its a funny old game”….. Never seemed so true as United turned in a performance as stale as many of the hangovers afflicting the away end at The Hawthorns! We’ve played better away from OT this season and not won.
Every cloud and all that.
Credit to the home support, they contributed to the atmosphere….moreso than their city centre rivals had done at St Andrews on Tuesday.
I can’t really say much about the game, nothing positive aside from getting our second away win of the season which I hope is the catalyst to kick us on for the remainder if the season now and take control of the title race. Good to see Rooney scoring as well and with the assist, and getting plenty support…
…fingers crossed the saga is behind us all now! Goodbye 2010…hello 2011.
