Club now ready to offer over £42.2million to agree deal with Man Utd for signing – Report

Old Trafford night

Manchester United’s new head coach, Ruben Amorim, has recently said after an agonizing defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend that this is the worst Man Utd team in the history of the club.

They are currently languishing in the bottom half of the table with 26 points from 22 games. Therefore, the Red Devils need a complete rebuild to turn the situation around and fight for big prizes once again in future.

However, having splashed around £200m last summer, Man Utd’s transfer budget has been restricted due to PSR rules in this January window.

Hence, the club’s hierarchy have been looking to sell a few underperforming stars to raise funds. Selling academy players generates the most profit so Amorim’s side are planning to sell a few of them with Marcus Rashford being among them.

Moreover, Alejandro Garnacho has also been linked with a move away from the club and Napoli have expressed a keen interest in securing his service.

The Azzurri have already agreed on personal terms with the player and have seen a £42.2m[€50m] proposal rejected by United as they want around £59m[€70m].

Now, Today’s edition of Corriere del Mezzogiorno say that Napoli are ready to increase their offer to persuade United to cash-in so that they can improve their accounts to reinforce the squad before the deadline.

The Italian giants are set to face tough competition from Chelsea over this deal but Antonio Conte has been pushing to hire the South American, who already has a basic agreement over a contract until 2029.

Garnacho came on in the second half vs Brighton out and missed an opportunity to score. As a result, he came under fire on social media and his exit is a real possibility.

The Argentine international is a talented player but it might be difficult for him to reach his full potential in a not so steady environment like Man Utd. Therefore, it would be better for both parties to part ways. What do you think?
