Manchester United favourite Nemanja Vidic believes Alexis Sanchez will play a significant role in the club’s Champions League campaign. The Chilean joined the Red Devils last weekend with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way.
Sanchez’s arrival has been creating a lot of buzz among the United faithful, and ex-captain Vidic is equally delighted with the Chilean and he is excited to watch how the 29-year-old influence play in the Champions League.
“I am excited, as well. I think he is a player who has played in top clubs before, he has experience, won the trophies and played Champions League. It is a good signing for Man United. He brings something different into the team,” he is quoted as saying by M.E.N
“I think we are now in a situation where we are focusing on the Champions League, as [Manchester] City are many points above Man United. Obviously, we never give up on the [Premier League] title, but I think the Champions League is realistic this season.”
Sanchez had a stop-start season with Arsenal during the first-half of the campaign, but his contribution was nevertheless evident as he popped up with vital goals irrespective of his overall performance.
The Chilean made his debut versus Yeovil Town in the FA fourth round last night, and though his crossing was not up to the mark, he played a part in two of United’s four goals in what was initially a tricky start at Huish Park.
Manchester United will now turn their attention to an important Premier League outing versus Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
Sanchez netted against the north London outfit earlier in the season, playing for his ex-club, and he will no doubt want to impress once more against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
