Facing Barnsley in the Carabao cup, one can expect the Dutch coach to ring the changes and name a much different starting XI. So, let’s dive into how we think Erik ten Hag would set his team up against Barnsley.
Between the posts, Altay Bayindir, the Turkish shot-stopper is expected to replace Andre Onana for a rare start. The player has hardly featured since moving to Man Utd and this might be his chance to shine and show the Cameroonian international that he can hold his own.
With Mazraoui going off with an issue against Southampton, Diogo Dalot has no choice but to continue in the starting XI as a right-back this time. Harry Maguire is expected to partner Jonny Evans in the central defensive area with youngster Harry Amass getting a start as the left-back.
Casemiro is likely to start as the defensive midfielder alongside new signing Manuel Ugarte, who made his debut against Southampton. Toby Collyer is expected to round off the midfield against the lower-division team.
Antony is expected to start from the right side of the attack with super-sub Alejandro Garnacho expected to start from the left. That leaves Joshua Zirkzee as the starting number nine, yet again and the youngster will be hoping to net his second goal.
Despite the much-rotated squad, one would totally expect Man Utd to get past Barnsley. Anything other than blowing them out of the water would be underwhelming from the Red Devils and let’s wait and see how it goes.
