Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is reportedly blocking the club’s ongoing pursuit of Alexis Sanchez. The Chile international is deemed to have already finalised personal terms ahead of his proposed switch from Arsenal, but Mkhitaryan has yet to make a decision on joining the north London side.
According to BBC Sport, Borussia Dortmund have ended their pursuit of Mkhitaryan for the transfer window, but the 28-year-old is in no hurry to link up with Arsene Wenger’s side. Obviously, the Armenian has a contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2020, and it appears that he is weighing up all possible options before pursuing a fresh challenge elsewhere.
No agreement in place or close for Mkhitaryan to join Arsenal from Man Utd in Sanchez swap. He holds key & still mulling over #AFC / other clubs / staying #MUFC – if agrees to Arsenal, can happen quickly. Mkhitaryan has not quite suited to Jose Mourinho’s style of play, and a move to the Emirates could revive his faltering form with the Gunners seemingly willing to offer him the playing time he craves for.
The 28-year-old has failed to contribute an assist for the Red Devils since his impressive streak in August, and the United fans will be hopeful that he does not hamper the club’s chances of signing Sanchez this month.
A straight-cash deal has also been touted for Sanchez’s move to Old Trafford, but the Gunners are reluctant to sanction any transfer unless they find a suitable replacement via a part-exchange deal or from elsewhere.
