Man Utd have shown impressive resilience and negotiation acumen to secure agreements for Mason Mount and Andre Onana this summer and are moving equally well in their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund.
John Murtough, the club’s Director of football, refused to pay ‘United tax’ and meet Chelsea’s high valuation of Mount earlier this summer, leading to the Stamford Bridge outfit lowering their demand and accepting an initial fee of £55m plus £5m in add-ons for the England international.
The talks with Inter for Andre Onana were equally shrewd and the Red Devils managed to seal an agreement for the services of the elite goalkeeper for less than £50m.
Now, United are adopting the same approach to secure their striker target and are willing to look at alternatives should Atalanta maintain their tough stance on Hojlund’s price tag.
As per ESPN, the Serie A side want at least 70 million euros (£61m) for the 20-year-old forward. But the Premier League giants believe their valuation isn’t fair for a player with less than 100 senior appearances under his belt.
Man Utd remain keen to test Atalanta’s resolve but are also ready to ‘step up their interest’ in Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt.
The news source claim the 20-time English champions are preparing a move to lure the French international this summer.
The 24-year-old star is more experienced than Hojlund, accumulating close to 150 first-team appearances at FC Nantes and Frankfurt. Last season, the dynamic truly came into his own, scoring 23 goals and assisting 17 times for the Bundesliga club.
Kolo Muani also proved to be an absolute menace in the World Cup as he scored a goal in the semi final vs Morocco and assisted (won penalty) one of Kylian Mbappe’s three goals in the 3-3 final vs Argentina that was eventually decided on penalties.
However, this also means he’s not going to come for cheap. It is understood it could cost as much as 80 million euros (£69m) to bring the Les Bleus star to Old Trafford this summer.
