Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has provided an injury update on his first-team squad ahead of Saturday’s Premier League outing at Burnley. The Red Devils have witnessed the return of several players from injuries this month, and Mourinho relatively positive news ahead of the short trip to east Lancashire.
Speaking to MUTV, the Portuguese tactician confirmed that Daley Blind will miss the away trip with a minor knock whilst Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are the only long-term absentees in the United squad, he said: “Nothing new to report. Just a little problem with Daley in training today. It is an injury but nothing really important. Apart from that, Eric and Zlatan are still recovering. Everyone else is fit and good.”
The likes of Antonio Valencia and Marouane Fellaini have been integrated into the squad in recent matches, and the former returned to the first XI in line as he scored a brilliant left-footed curler against Stoke. United’s lean streak during the festive period coincided with Valencia’s absence with a hamstring problem, and the Ecuadorian’s leadership and positional sense makes him a class part from many right-backs in the top-flight.
Aside from this, Michael Carrick has returned to regular training with his teammates after a heart procedure, though Jose Mourinho has to make the decision as to when he would feature the veteran in his matchday squad. The ex-England international has made a solitary appearance against Burton Albion in the League Cup in September.
