Manchester United have been constantly linked with Bruno Fernandes this summer and lately, a renowned journalist has made an interesting claim.

Few days back, Evening Standard reported that the Red Devils believe they will be clear to hire the services of the Sporting CP star.

More recently, La Gazetta Dello Sport journalist, Nicolo Schira, tweeted that United made an offer of 35 million euros to lure the Portuguese international but the Primeira Liga club want more.

Transfer: Report – Man Utd launched move to sign £44.7million star

The renowned journalist claimed that Sporting are looking for an international auction but at the moment, only Man United are decisively moving to lure the highly rated attacking midfielder. Furthermore, Schira stated that the feeling is that the Old Trafford club will eventually pay more than 35 million euros but will not splash around 60-70 million euros which Sporting CP are demanding.

Earlier this month, Correio da Manha claimed that the Portuguese giants want 70 million euros (£62.5million) for their captain.

In Portugal, Record (press image via Sport Witness) reported yesterday that Man United are looking to accelerate their efforts to sign Fernandes after sealing the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

The former Udinese star featured in 33 league games for Sporting in the last campaign and directly contributed in as many goals (20 goals and 13 assists).

Fernandes directly contributed in 4 goals in as many starts to help Sporting win the Allianz Cup, moreover, he directly contributed in 8 goals in 7 games to help them win Taca de Portugal.

Not to forget, he played in the semi final and the final of the UEFA Nations League to help the Seleccao lift the trophy.

He has been linked with Man United for quite some time and hopefully, like Wan-Bissaka, the 24-year-old attacking midfielder will also end up moving to Old Trafford. We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming days.
