Where do you even begin with Manchester United this season? A shambolic Premier League campaign, early exits in domestic cups, and a fanbase teetering on the edge—yet somehow, this chaotic mess of a season could still end with a golden ticket to the Champions League via the Europa League. Football, eh?
Irrespective of what happens in the Europa League though, it is fair to say that Man Utd have had a very poor season by their standards.

Sitting 15th in the Premier League table doesn’t make for good reading and there is no doubt that Ruben Amorim will not be happy with what is going on with his team.
The Portuguese tactician himself came to Old Trafford only mid-season and since his arrival, results have gone downhill. Despite Amorim’s desire to get his team to play a particular brand of football in a particular system, it doesn’t look like the current squad is suited to making it happen.
Thus, in the upcoming summer, Man Utd have the envious task of having to rebuild their squad despite being on a tight string. There is almost no room for error and sales will have to be made but the Red Devils need to get creative to ensure that they have a squad that Amorim is happy with for the upcoming season.
Solving the striker woes
It has been a well documented issue that Man Utd do not have a striker capable of chipping in with goals on a consistent basis. Joshua Zirkzee is not an out-and-out number nine and Rasmus Hojlund is far too inconsistent to be leading the line at a club of this magnitude.
Now, as per Footmercato, Man Utd have opened talks to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen who is out on loan at Galatasaray.
The Red Devils’ primary focus continues to be Viktor Gyokeres but they cannot afford to put all their eggs in one basket and the Nigerian is a great alternative to have in mind.
The report mentions that Osimhen is likely to want a significant sum and will demand a salary of around £196,000 a week to sign for the English club. Agreeing a deal with Napoli is unlikely to be an issue as the relationship between the player and his parent club is completely broken.
Most importantly, there is a good chance Osimhen agrees to come to Man Utd only if the club manage to win Europa League and secure Champions League football for the upcoming season.
Whether Victor Osimhen becomes the new face of Manchester United’s frontline or not, one thing is clear: The club is walking a tightrope between salvation and further embarrassment.
The outcome of their Europa League journey could very well define not just their transfer market pull—but the entire trajectory of Amorim’s reign. Buckle up, this summer could be the most pivotal Old Trafford has seen in years.
