As talk of a move for Barcelona’s Pedro intensifies, renowned Manchester United journo Andy Mitten has written a piece on the Barcelona forward for Eurosport.
In the piece he discusses the move, saying that whilst United’s interest is real, they aren’t close to a signing.
Mitten looks at the player’s background, how he now finds himself on the periphery of the Barcelona first team (largely due to the arrival of Luis Suarez and his impressive form) and also his suitability to playing in the Premier League.
Spanish football expert Graham Hunter said of Pedro:
“He’s got the attitude and robustness which would fit well into English football and his pace is extraordinary.”
But the most interesting part of the piece is the quote he finishes with.
Having spoken to Pedro previously, Mitten brings up something he said upon their last meeting:
“I love playing in England. The stadiums are full and loud, the fans really proud of their teams. I played against Arsenal and Chelsea, plus Celtic in Scotland. That’s one of the best. I’d love to play at Old Trafford too.”
Pedro has shown a willingness to play in England and whilst the above comments were clearly made in regards to being a Barcelona player, could he get his wish of playing at Old Trafford but as a United player?
