United fans are by-and-large resigned to the idea of losing goalkeeper David De Gea with most Reds have little animosity towards the player of the season for wanting to return to Spain. All that love and understanding may change with news that rather than being patient and letting United and Real Madrid work out a deal the keeper is set to hand in a transfer request and force a move through.
The Sun notes:
David De Gea is ready to force a move to Real Madrid by handing in a transfer request. The Manchester United keeper expects his return to Spain to be completed in two weeks.
With De Gea’s contract set to run out at the end of next Summer, it’s highly unlikely he’ll be at United next season but there was a strong feeling the Reds could force Real Madrid to make a large offer such is their need to try and rebound from a disappointing season. If De Gea does force a move then he may be able to move for less than the Reds hoped and he could upset the fans in the process.
