Jose Mourinho has hailed the performance of Paul Pogba following Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
The France international had come off an average showing in the 1-0 defeat to West Brom, but he managed to pull the strings against the Cherries as he contributed a top assist for Romelu Lukaku’s goal.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho was pleased with the impact of Pogba, who was substituted in the 80th minute with a view to the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.
He said: “I’m not very good on Man of the Match, especially because I am a team manager, I’m not a big fan of it. But [Pogba] played very well.”
Alongside Pogba, a number of players including Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera during the course of the game and there are plenty of positives to take forward for the Cup semi-final.
Without Alexis Sanchez on the pitch, Pogba genuinely performed better with more space on the left wing, and it will be interesting to see whether the former earns a starting role on Saturday.
Sanchez has been found guilty of losing possession of the ball all too often and it would not be a surprise if the likes of Jesse Lingard and Rashford get the nod ahead of him versus Spurs.
