Player Ratings: Manchester United 4-0 Crystal Palace, Fellaini steals the show




Manchester United continued their strong start to the Premier League season with a resounding 4-0 win over Crystal Palace. The victory sees United equal on points with league leaders Manchester City and only behind on goal difference. Here are our ratings for the game…

David de Gea: Was hardly disturbed by a Palace side which is still goalless this term – 7.5/10

Antonio Valencia: United’s standing skipper produced another impressive at right-back. Did not put a foot wrong during the course of the match – 7/10

Phil Jones: A surprise starter on the day despite his injury concerns. Jones put in a steady performance alongside Chris Smalling – 7/10

Chris Smalling: Was the busier of the two centre-backs on the day. Put in a good showing ahead of Eric Bailly, who was offered a much-needed rest on the bench – 7.5/10

Ashley Young: The England international has come into his own under Jose Mourinho this term. Provided a stunning assist for Fellaini’s opener. He is set to stay at left-back – 8/10

Marouane Fellaini: Bagged the man of the match with a stunning brace with his head. Fellaini now has four goals across all competitions for United – 9/10

Nemanja Matic: The deeper of the two midfielders, Matic provided the calming influence as he controlled the game from the centre of the pitch – 7.5/10

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Could not yield his magic from the number 10 role. Nevertheless, a decent performance from the Armenian – 7/10

Marcus Rashford: Crafted Juan Mata’s opener in the first period, before providing a bullet-like cross with precision for Fellaini’s second on the day – 8.5/10

Juan Mata: The Spaniard opened the scoring for United early in the first-half, and continued to provide a solid performance whilst he was on the pitch – 7.5/10

Romelu Lukaku: Lukaku did not have much luck with his tireless work rate but scored from close range after a delightful Anthony Martial cross in the 86th minute – 8/10
