Pogba and Sanchez start, 4-3-3: Predicted Manchester United XI to face West Brom

Manchester United will seek to extend a five-match winning streak in the Premier League when they entertain West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. Jose Mourinho’s side made a stunning comeback during the Manchester derby last weekend, and the managed could be tempted to stick with the same starting XI.

Formation: 4-3-3

Lineup:

David de Gea has been the undisputed starter between the sticks, and he has kept clean sheets in exactly 50 percent of the Premier League games this season. The Spaniard is certain to start in goal.

Likewise, the backline may remain unchanged with Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young slotting into the right and left-back positions respectively whilst Eric Bailly could once again partner Chris Smalling in the central defence.

Smalling has been criticised for his positioning during the second half of the campaign, but the England international has come up with crucial goals of late including the match-winner in the Manchester derby.

In midfield, Mourinho could stick with a three-man combination against a West Brom side with Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba coming up with season-defining performances during the derby.

Herrera, in particular, does not deserve to be dropped after a strong showing in the second half, and the above-mentioned duo are likely to start alongside Nemanja Matic in the centre of the park.

Further forward, Alexis Sanchez should maintain his place on the left side of the attack after another top performance last weekend. The Chilean has contributed one goal and three assists since the international break.

Similarly, Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku will be expected to feature from the off, with the former capable of making his tireless runs in the frontline whilst also offering more in a defensive scale of things.

Lukaku could not extend his 26-goal tally against Manchester City last weekend, and he has the opportunity to test the Baggies’ defence, having scored on five occasions in eight previous meetings against them.
