Pre-season: How Man United could line up vs Liverpool

Old Trafford

Manchester United will be heading to Asia today and new manager, Erik ten Hag, needs a solid pre-season to prepare his side for the next campaign.

The fans can check Man Utd live scores during the tour and first up, the Red Devils will collide against arch-rivals, Liverpool, next week in Thailand. Last season, the Reds absolutely ripped United apart in both the league fixtures and the difference in quality is massive.

Ideally, Ten Hag would have liked to have all his key transfer targets secured before pre-season but unfortunately, thus far, the Old Trafford outfit have only managed to complete one key signing in the form of Tyrell Malacia.

The 52-year-old coach has mainly utilized the 4-3-3 formation in his career and in that setup, he would likely select a mixture of experience and youth in the pre-season.

We can expect Malacia to start in the left back role against the Merseysiders. Lindelof and Mengi may feature in the central defense in front of Heaton. On the other hand, Ethan Laird may get the nod to start in the right-back position.

As far as the midfield is concerned, Van de Beek, who has mostly warmed the bench since moving to United, was a key member of the Ajax squad that won the domestic double three years ago under Ten Hag.

The Dutch international may get a starring role under the new manager. He could start with youngsters like Garner and Hannibal Mejbri in the center of the park vs Liverpool.

In the attacking third, Pellistri and Garnacho may feature in the wide attacking positions and Rashford could start as an out-and-out center forward.

Man United’s predicted XI vs Liverpool: Heaton; Laird, Lindelof, Mengi, Malacia; Van de Beek, Mejrbi, Garner; Pellistri, Garnacho, Rashford
