Manchester United take on bitter rivals Liverpool tonight in the final of the International Champions Cup. The match to be played over in Miami to a sell-out 65,000 crowd at the Sun Life Stadium. United have beaten LA Galaxy, AS Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid on the road to the final, with the winner receiving $1million.
Louis van Gaal has already spoke about his passion to win, even in a friendly competition. But of course, there are no friendlies when it comes to Manchester United vs Liverpool. We predict that he will start with his best starting XI this evening, with the only casualty being Danny Welbeck after getting injured against Real Madrid in United’s last match.
Starting at the back, between the sticks no doubt David De Gea will get the nod to start, Manchester United’s number one. On the back line, Michael Keane should be starting alongside Jonny Evans and Phil Jones, Chris Smalling has recovered from injury but this game is probably a but too soon back for a start. M.Keane impressed against Real Madrid and has had an impressive tour all round.
Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young to take up the positions as wing-backs. Ashley Young had an impressive game against Real Madrid, if there is a manager that can get the best out of Young next season then it is undoubtedly Louis van Gaal. In the middle of the park, then keeping the same pairing of Darren Fletcher and Ander Herrera would be the best bet, especially against Liverpool.
Just in front of Herrera and behind the front two is expected to be Juan Mata, the Spanish international is fantastic and Louis van Gaal can do well to build the team around Mata’s play next season.
Danny Welbeck will miss the Liverpool match due to injury, so gives the chance to Mexican striker Javier Hernandez to partner Wayne Rooney up top.
The Faithful Predicted XI:
De Gea;
M.Keane, Jones, Evans;
Valencia, Herrera, Fletcher, Young;
Mata;
Hernandez, Rooney.
