Rashford and Herrera start, 4-3-3: Strongest Manchester United XI to face West Ham

Manchester United will seek to cement the second spot in the table when they face West Ham United at the London Stadium on Thursday night. The Red Devils produced a lacklustre performance in the recent 1-0 defeat at Brighton but they remain within a point of assuring the runner-up spot for the campaign.

Formation: 4-3-3

Lineup:

David de Gea failed to keep a clean sheet against Brighton last Friday and this now sees him tied with Manchester City’s Ederson in the Golden Glove race. He should definitely start in goal versus the Hammers.

In defence, Mourinho may the experienced pairing of Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young on the right and left side of the backline whilst Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling could feature in the central defensive positions.

Eric Bailly has been ignored for the starting lineup over the past month and this could continue on Thursday with Mourinho favouring to pick players, who are vying for World Cup spots with their respective nations.

In midfield, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba are pretty much certainties based on their performances over the past month and they could be accompanied by Ander Herrera after Marouane Fellaini failed to make the most of a rare start versus Brighton.

Further forward, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez remain on the sidelines through injuries and this should hand another start for Marcus Rashford. The England international is a likely contender to start up front ahead of Anthony Martial with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata operating either side of him.
