Manchester United will look to maintain their bright start to 2018 when they host Derby County in the third round of the FA Cup. The Red Devils are currently facing an injury crisis across the field, but Jose Mourinho will still be expected to pick a strong side to face an in-form Derby from the Championship.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Lineup:
Sergio Romero has not featured since the League Cup quarter-final defeat to Bristol City, and the Argentine could earn some much-needed gametime ahead of David de Gea in goal.
In central defence, Marcos Rojo could keep his position from the previous league outing, and he could be partnered by Chris Smalling, who was only a substitute against Everton.
Matteo Darmian was overlooked for the right-back spot versus the Toffees, but the Italian could get for the position against the Rams with Daley Blind slotting into the left side of the backline.
In midfield, Paul Pogba looks a certainty to start after his sublime performance on New Year’s Day, and he could potentially be partnered by Ander Herrera, thus offering a rest to Nemanja Matic, who has been ever-present in this season’s Premier League.
Further forward, Jesse Lingard could keep his position in the number 10 role, and he could be partnered by Juan Mata and Anthony Martial either side.
Marcus Rashford has faced criticism from the fans of late for his poor decision making, but he could get a chance to impress from the off versus Derby with Lukaku likely to start from the substitutes’ bench.
