Manchester United will seek to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they face Bournemouth on Wednesday night. Jose Mourinho’s side suffered a rather shocking 1-0 home defeat to West Brom last weekend, and the Portuguese should make a few changes to the starting lineup with a view to the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Lineup:
David de Gea could not extend on his 16 clean sheets with Jay Rodriguez scoring a second-half winner for the Baggies. The Spain international has been ever-present for United in the Premier League, and should start in goal on Wednesday.
In defence, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young may retain their positions on the right and left side of the backline, but Mourinho could rotate his options in the central defensive department. We are fancying Marcos Rojo and Victor Lindelof to start ahead of Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling, who could be rested for the FA Cup semi-final.
Likewise in midfield, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba are strong candidates to remain on the bench. Scott McTominay could earn his first start since the international break, and we are predicting him to partner Ander Herrera, who has looked lively since his return from a hamstring issue.
Further forward, we are fancying Alexis Sanchez to keep his left-wing position, though there could be changes in other parts of the field. Jesse Lingard may return to the first XI in the number one position with Anthony Martial on the right whilst Marcus Rashford could earn his second Premier League start of 2018.
Romelu Lukaku has stood out with his performances in the centre-forward position this term, but with a key Cup clash coming up, Mourinho could be inclined to utilise the Belgian’s services off the substitutes’ bench if required.
