According to Catalan publication Sport, Real Madrid are interested in signing Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane deemed too expensive to bring to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Rashford has struggled for regular playing time this season, making only 14 Premier League starts which has hampered his scoring figures – 27 league appearances, six goals, five goals.
The 20-year-old has made no public desire to depart Old Trafford but Sport believe he would be open to a move to Real after declaring himself a fan of Los Blancos and ex-United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined the La Liga giants in 2009.
Manchester United are keen to keep Rashford, however, believing the English international could have a bright future in Premier League. The Red Devils tied down the striker to a four-year deal in 2016 and have used him in every competition this season, even if only from the bench at times.
One way Real could land his signature is if Rashford grows disillusioned with the stiff competition for a starting place at United. Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are all competing for playing time, meaning the £55k-per-week star is likely to miss out at times.
Currently though, United don’t want to sell, Rashford doesn’t appear to want to leave, nor have Real made an official approach.
