Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly made contact with Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea in an attempt to restrict him from penning an extension.

De Gea’s current deal at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2019, and United are said to be planning contract talks amid the continuous interest from the European champions.

According to Diario Gol, Real Madrid and Perez are still eager to pursue the signature of De Gea, and the 70-year-old has urged De Gea to snub negotiations over a fresh United deal.

The Spain international has shown no interest in prolonging his United stay to date, and he is understood to be aware of the fact that his value could increase with a strong showing at the 2018 World Cup.

Despite the speculation, De Gea has previously cited that he is settled at Old Trafford, and he is ‘living his dream‘ of playing for a top club of Manchester United’s calibre.

The 26-year-old has been named in the PFA Team of the Year in four of his six seasons at United, and he looks on course for another strong campaign with seven clean sheets in just nine outings for the Red Devils this term.
