Record – Man Utd want to sign £51.7m and £103.4m stars for rebuild

Goncalo Inacio - Portugal

Manchester United did not focus on reinforcing their defense in the summer transfer window and are now paying the price.

The Red Devils have been poor at the back and to make matters worse, they are missing several key players due to fitness issues.

News – O Jogo – Man Utd press to sign £103.6milion player – Ten Hag backed

As far as the central defense is concerned, Martinez is out injured for long term, Varane is past his prime, Maguire is unwanted and Lindelof is inconsistent.

In such a scenario, the Old Trafford outfit are looking to completely rebuild the central defense and top youngsters are on their radar.

As per today’s version of Record (news image provided below), Man Utd look to rebuild the backline next year and want to sign Goncalo Inacio from Sporting CP and Antonio Silva from Benfica.

The Portuguese duo are on top of Ten Hag’s wishlist but they are going to cost a lot.

Inacio’s current deal with the Lions has a release clause of £51.7m, on the other hand, Silva’s contract with the Lions has an exit clause of £103.4m.

The Primeira Liga sides will only allow their prized assets to leave if the respective release clauses are met.

Inacio won the Liga Nos title with Sporting CP in the 2020-21 campaign and Silva won the league with Benfica last season. At the moment, only a point separates the two teams on top of the table.

According to Record, Man Utd are also interested in French international, Todibo (Nice) and Burkina Faso defender, Tapsoba (Bayer Leverkusen).

In your opinion, who should Ten Hag sign to improve the backline at Old Trafford?
