Manchester United are on the verge of signing of Manuel Ugarte, as per the latest update coming from Portugal.

According to a story published by Record, the headline states, ‘Ugarte is closer to Old Trafford’.

The Lisbon based media outlet have mentioned that the former Sporting CP midfielder is ‘on the verge of joining Manchester United’.

Ugarte was not called up for Paris Saint-Germain’s opening league game last night and that is ‘the missing sign’ to confirm that the Uruguayan’s time at the Parc des Princes has come to an end.

The French champions paid 60 million euros to sign the South American from the Lions last year, but now, they have hired Joao Neves from Benfica to replace him.

Record claim that the only thing missing for the transfer of Ugarte is the agreement between Man Utd and PSG, but the deal is now ‘closer’ to completion.

Jorge Mendes is dealing with the negotiations and as per HITC, the super agent is confident that a deal will be struck between all parties to take his client to the Premier League club.

Ugarte had a brilliant Copa America campaign as he helped Uruguay earn third place in the competition.

However, he was not favored by Luis Enrique at PSG. He only managed to start 21 games in the league last term and featured for full 90 minutes on 16 occasions.

At Old Trafford, Man Utd are in search of a long term replacement for Casemiro and if reports in the media are anything to go by, then Manuel Ugarte is the man for the job.
