Manchester United have so far secured deals to improve their backline this summer. The defense was arguably the weakest department last term and the likes of Malacia and Martinez should strengthen things.
Now, the Red Devils still must improve the attack and the midfield departments. As far as the offense is concerned, we have mainly been linked with Brazilian international, Antony.
Transfer: Man Utd have to finally agree signing of £51.2million “top drawer” De Jong alternative – Opinion
TalkSPORT have exclusively revealed that Man United are still pressing to sign the Samba star in the summer transfer window as Erik ten Hag remains keen on hiring his services.
Transfer expert, Alex Crook stated:
“I’ve had some information from a very reliable source that Manchester United are still very much looking to bring Antony to the Premier League. Erik ten Hag is a big admirer of his qualities and believes he can add something to his Manchester United rebuild”
“They haven’t got a specific price yet, but the price discussed over in Holland is 70 million euros (£60million), or a little bit less than that.”
Crook claims that the arrival of Antony may not be directly linked with the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Man United heavily relied on the Portuguese striker for goals last term. Apart from our No.7, only Bruno Fernandes was able to reach the double figures in terms of goals scored. The wide attacking players did not contribute enough.
Therefore, a top winger like Antony, who regularly scored and created goals for Ajax under Ten Hag, would be a quality addition. Thus far, in 78 appearances for the Dutch giants, the 22-year-old has directly contributed in 42 goals in all competitions.
He was part of the Brazilian Olympic Team last year. The South American winger only provided one assist in the tournament and that won them the final against Spain.
We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming days and will keep you updated.
