Manchester United need to sign a strong defensive midfielder cum deep-lying playmaker to improve the squad and they have been linked with Kalvin Phillips for some time.

Back in October, The Star exclusively reported that the Red Devils and Liverpool are keen on hiring the services of the Leeds United star, who is valued at £60million.

According to Evening Stanard, West Ham submitted an offer of £50million to sign the 26-year-old regista and Man Utd could move in to rival the London club for his signature.

The Guardian (press image provided below), have revealed that the Hammers’ bid was turned down by the Elland Road outfit.

Italian legend, Andrea Pirlo, believes that Phillips is a unique midfielder (The Athletic). The fact that several top clubs are after the Whites’ player clearly indicates that he is a top talent.

He was an important member of the England squad that reached the finals of the European Championships last summer and already, he has earned 19 caps for the Three Lions under the management of Gareth Southgate.

Unfortunately, Phillips has been absent for Leeds for over a month due to a hamstring injury and is not expected to return till March. Still, Bielsa wants to keep him at the club.

Leeds are currently threatened by relegation and would surely not want to lose star players this month, especially to bitter rivals Manchester United.

  1. Stop being silly. You are deluded if you think Phillips would give any thought of joining Man Utd, He will leave Leeds in time but NEVER to go there
