Transfer: Favorites Man United can agree £51million fee for signing – Report
According to a story covered by 20 Minutos today (press image provided below), the Catalan club’s priority is to agree a new deal with teenage sensation, Gavi, who will be out of contract in 2023.
However, the dilemma at the Nou Camp is that their economic conditions are poor, so, to hand Gavi a new deal, they are looking to offload De Jong, who has got a good market value at the moment.
The Spanish news source have mentioned that Barca are intent on selling De Jong to Man United in an operation that could bring in cash of around 70 to 80 million euros (£59m-£68m).
Pedri and Gavi are considered the future and the La Liga giants believe that the duo can form a brilliant midfield partnership like Xavi and Iniesta did in the past.
At Old Trafford, incoming manager, Ten Hag will have to deal with the departures of midfielders like Matic and record signing Pogba (possible). He surely cannot rely on inconsistent players like Fred and McTominay in the center.
Under the Dutch boss, Donny van de Beek, who has never been handed a fair chance since joining United, excelled in the midfield with De Jong at Ajax. Would you like to see the duo lineup for the Red Devils next season?
