Manchester United seem serious about signing Ronald Araujo from Barcelona if reports in the Spanish media are anything to go by.

Earlier this month, Marca reported that the Red Devils are most interested in hiring the services of the Uruguayan international in order to improve their backline.

Transfer: From Spain – Man Utd favorites to sign £41.8million player in summer

More recently, the famous Madrid based outlet have reported that Barcelona have been negotiating with the center half for months but they have still failed to reach an agreement.

The South American will be out of contract in the summer next year and the Spanish news source have mentioned that Man Utd have made a strong offer to sign him.

As far as the competition is concerned, it is stated that even Chelsea have moved in with an offer to lure the 22-year-old from the Catalan giants.

The £34million-rated star is a key member of the Barca side under the management of Xavi and he will likely become the leader of the defense once veteran, Pique, hangs up his boots.

At Old Trafford, Man Utd regularly leaked goals this term and have kept just 6 clean sheets in 25 fixtures thus far. Bailly and Lindelof are definitely not good enough, Jones is past his best and even skipper Maguire has been highly inconsistent this season.

Therefore, to improve the backline, Man United need a reliable player to partner Varane in the central defense. In your view, is Ronald Araujo good enough to strengthen things at the back?
