Report – Man United ready to pay £31.2million to secure major signing

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United were hammered by Barcelona in the Champions League last night and will end the season without any trophy.

Now, the Red Devils must push to finish in the top four to earn CL qualification for next season. For that, we might have to beat our neighbors Man City but three points against the Citizens could actually help Liverpool win the PL title.

United’s defense has been far too inconsistent in the current campaign and Barca clearly humiliated our back-line yesterday. It is evident that we need to sort things at the back to challenge the best of teams in the continent.

Transfer: Man Utd ready to move in to sign £60million star in summer

First and foremost, Solskjaer needs a leader in his back-line and for that he must sign a proven quality central defender.

As per reports going on in the media, a top defender in the form of Kostas Manolas is heavily linked with the Old Trafford club.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Man United are ready to activate the Greek international’s release clause of 36 million euros (£31.2million) to secure his signing in the summer transfer window.

In the current campaign, the Roma star has so far played 32 games in all competitions, scored 2 goals and provided an assist as well.

As per TMW, the Giallorossi are already preparing for the departure of Manolas and Barca’s Samuel Umtiti is being eyed as the ideal replacement.

In my view, the former AEK Athens player is one of the best center backs in the Italian league and he would be a top capture for us. Manolas, 27, is in his peak years and in all fairness, the above mentioned release clause is very low for someone as good as him. Therefore, Man United must get his signing done as soon as possible.
