Manchester United have more than a few central defenders in the squad and as per reports, they are prepared offload an experienced player in the winter transfer window.

According to The Sun, Man United are ready to sell Phil Jones in January if his valuation of £20million is met.

Transfer: Report – Manchester United agreed deal to sign £215,000-a-week playmaker then this happened

Jones was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson and the England international was a key member of the squad that won the Premier League title in 2013.

However, in recent years, the 28-year-old center back has mainly warmed the bench at Old Trafford and now Solskjaer wants to get rid of him.

In the last campaign, the former Blackburn Rovers player featured in just 8 games in all competitions for the Red Devils and this season, thus far, he has not played a single game for the club, who decided to leave him out from the Champions League and the Premier League squads.

Jones’ current contract with the 20-time English champions will expire in 2023 and that is why Man United are asking a high fee of £20million. Not to forget, we sold Chris Smalling to Roma in the summer transfer window.

At the moment, Solskjaer has center halves like Lindelof, Tuanzebe, Bailly and skipper Maguire at his disposal. In the absence of the captain, 22-year-old Tuanzebe put in a fantastic performance vs Paris Saint-Germain last night.

It will be fair to say that Maguire has not been able to transform our back-line and he himself has been inconsistent this term. In your view, should Man United splash the cash to sign a proven quality central defender in the winter transfer window?
