Manchester United suffered yet another disappointing result against Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend with a 0-0 draw at Villa Park.

In hindsight though, things could have been a lot worse and Erik ten Hag would probably take this.

News – Man Utd prepare move, ready to sign Spaniard as new manager – Report

One thing that has haunted Ten Hag’s team so far this season is their inability to score goals. They now sit 14th in the Premier League table [yes, you read that right!] and have managed to net just five goals in seven games, three of which came against Southampton.

Although the solution is not buying their way to success, it looks like the Red Devils think they now need to sign a striker. As per Spanish source, Fichajes, Man United are willing to bid to try and sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.

The African striker has been in fine form since the beginning of last season. In 18 league starts in their Bundesliga-winning campaign, he recorded 23 goal contributions and he has followed it up with six goals from nine games, including last weekend.

A fee of around £50m-£67m should be sufficient to sign the 23-year-old forward. However, Manchester United spent big money to sign Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in successive transfer windows and have not managed to get the best out of them.

The problem runs much deeper than the players can solve. It trickles down to the manager and what exactly his tactics for Manchester United are. At this point, there seems to be no clear solution but the Red Devils will have to find one.

If things continue on a similar note, Ten Hag might not have the job for much longer. Boniface or any other transfer plans will have to wait for the new manager and let’s wait and see how Man United handle the situation.
