If reports in the media are anything to go by then Manchester United are once again linked with Federico Chiesa, whose future has been up in the air for quite some time.
According to a report covered by La Gazzetta Dello Sport today, Man Utd are actively pressing to sign the versatile forward, who is valued at £62million by Fiorentina.
Transfer: Solskjaer will press to agree priority signing of £80million playmaker for Man Utd
The well-known Italian media outlet have mentioned that the Red Devils face competition from Inter Milan, who could lose Lautaro Martinez and have sights on signing Chiesa.
The 22-year-old Italian international can play anywhere in the attacking third. Last season, he mainly played on the right flank for the Viola, scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists.
On the other hand, this season, the youngster has mostly played as an out and out center forward. Before the suspension of the season, he directly contributed in 12 goals (7 goals and 5 assists) in 26 appearances for the Serie A side.
Chiesa made his debut for the Azzurri back in 2018 and he has already played 17 times for the four time World Cup winners (scored 1 goal). His current contract with Fiorentina will expire in 2022.
Solskjaer does need a quality right winger because Daniel James has not been good enough since joining the Red Devils last summer. He did find the net three times in the first four league games but since then, the Welsh winger has not scored a single goal in the PL.
On the other hand, Man Utd also need to sign an out and out center forward because Martial has not been good enough and Ighalo is not a long term solution.
So, a versatile forward like Federico Chiesa seems like a decent option. In your view, should Solskjaer spend £62million to sign the Italian?
Yes he should sign Chiesa because he’s of a good advantage to the team. The fans will love to see him because he’s going to do well in the team with the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandez
