Report – Man Utd at the forefront to sign £20million forward

Manchester United are building a new project under Ruben Amorim and this is just the beginning. So far, the Portuguese tactician has proven to be a ruthless decision maker, axing the likes of Antony and Marcus Rashford in January.

The Red Devils have handled more exits (albeit temporarily) than arrivals but there is no doubt that the upcoming summer would be very significant in the evolution of Amorim’s project. The ex-Sporting CP manager will want to bolster the squad in a way he sees fit.

As per Football Insider, Man Utd are at the forefront of signing talented young English striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. Back in the summer, the Tractor Boys signed the youngster from Manchester City for a fee of around £20million.

Delap has hit the ground running at his new club and established himself as one of the hottest young prospects in the league. The 22-year-old has scored nine goals and provided two assists in 22 PL appearances so far.

Son of former Premier League player Rory Delap who is renowned for his famous long throw-ins that proved to be such a potent weapon during his playing days, there is no doubt that football flows through the veins in the Delap family.

As good as Delap is and despite the immense potential that he has, the fact that he has a Manchester City past could prove to be a stumbling block in Man Utd signing the Englishman. It might not sit well with the fans of Old Trafford.

Manchester United are struggling with their strikers not scoring regular goals to keep them competitive in the league. However, signing yet another young and relatively unproven striker, whatever his potential may be might not be the play.

What the Red Devils need is to sign a player who is able to contribute from the offset and able to chip in with regular goals. They need a proven marksman and let’s wait and see how they go about this signing in the upcoming months.
