Manchester United are leading the race to hire the services of Portuguese international, Joao Neves, as per reports in Portugal.

Yesterday, O Jogo revealed the midfielder is highly covered by the Red Devils, who are very determined to secure his signing in the summer.

On the other hand, Record reported that Seleccao star’s stay at Benfica is not guaranteed as United and Arsenal push for his signature.

As per today’s version of Record, Man Utd are ‘at the head of the pack’ of interested parties to sign Joao Neves from the Eagles.

The renowned Portuguese news outlet have mentioned that the 19-year-old defensive midfielder is one of the most talked about names on the market.

However, Benfica’s plan is to hold on to him for another season. They will only sell him if the release clause of 120 million euros is met.

The youngster’s contract at the Estadio de Luz will expire in 2028 and he earns a salary of around £510,000 a year (600,000 euros a year).

Man Utd need a quality No.6 to reinforce things in the center of the park for next season.

Amrabat was arguably the best defensive midfielder at the FIFA World Cup 2022, but he has been unable to showcase the quality in the Premier League.

On the other hand, trying out a past prime Casemiro for another season would not be a good idea, considering his below par performances this term.

In such a scenario, do you think Man Utd must move to sign a young and quality DM like Joao Neves?
