Report – Man Utd in pole position to sign attacker, who has £86million clause

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United have been linked with Sporting CP star Bruno Fernandes for quite some time and the latest reports seem positive for the Red Devils.

According to A Bola, Manchester United are in pole position to hire the services of the Portuguese international, who has got a huge release clause of 100 million euros (£86million) in his contract.

The Portuguese outlet have mentioned that AC Milan are competing with the Old Trafford club to secure the signature of the 24-year-old star.

Fernandes has been in sensational form for the Primeira Liga club and it will not come as any surprise if he moves to a big club in the summer transfer window.

In the current campaign, so far, the Seleccao attacker has featured in 47 games in all competitions and directly contributed in 42 goals (27 goals and 15 assists).

The versatile star can play in multiple offensive positions but naturally, he plays in the central attacking midfield role. At Old Trafford, Solskjaer has at times used Pogba in the hole behind the striker but the French international has mostly excelled in the central midfield role.

Juan Mata is past his best and must be sold in the summer. Therefore, United do need a player, who can operate effectively in the No. 10 role and Fernandes would be a top capture if Solskjaer can somehow get his signing done.

We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the comings months.
