Report – Man United prepared to spend to sign £70million star in summer – Face competition

Rice and Sancho for England

Over the years, Manchester United have made a lot of investment to improve their back-line, however the problems at the back are still there.

The Red Devils should look to lure a specialist play breaker, who will be able to form a rock solid presence in front of the defense. Someone like Declan Rice would be a top addition.

Transfer: Man Utd backed to secure signing of £130,000-a-week ‘machine’

According to ESPN, Man Utd are willing to spend ahead of the next season and they are prepared to battle Chelsea to sign the England international in summer.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has been impressive for West Ham, who do not want to lose their prized asset and hope that an asking price of £70million would keep the suitors away (ESPN).

The Old Trafford outfit have spent cash to improve the squad under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the Norwegian has not been able to reinforce his midfield.

Brazilian star Fred was the last proven midfielder lured by the 20-time English champions and he arrived when Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club.

Moreover, we do not have a world class holding midfielder in the squad. Matic used to be a specialist some years back but now, the Serbian is a veteran, who is past his best and rarely gets game time under Ole.

The likes of Fred, McTominay, Pogba are not defensive midfielders and therefore, a strong specialist DM should be lured in the form of Declan Rice.

In your view, should Man Utd spend £70million to get his signing done in the summer transfer window?
