Manchester United have been trying to strengthen things at the back for a long time but the department still needs to improve.
They have the most expensive defender in the history of the game in the form of Harry Maguire and yet, Solskjaer’s men have conceded more goals than any other PL side in the top 10 this term.
In such a situation, the Norwegian international is looking to sign a center back in the summer transfer window and his priority is Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.
According to an exclusive story covered by Mirror Sport yesterday, Man Utd are ready to move for the highly rated star as Ole wants to partner him with skipper Maguire in the central defense at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old French star was an important member of the Andalusian club’s squad that lifted the Europa League trophy in the last campaign. The youngster made nine appearances in the the tournament and helped his club keep six clean sheets.
As far as this season is concerned, Kounde has regularly started for Sevilla, who have only conceded 16 goals in 20 La Liga fixtures this season. Only leaders Atletico Madrid have conceded fewer.
Moreover, so far, in four Copa Del Rey games in the current campaign, Julen Lopetegui’s side are yet to concede a goal in the competition.
Kounde’s current deal with Sevilla will expire in 2024, as per Mundo Deportivo, it has a huge release clause of 80 million euros (£71million) and the Spanish side would only let him leave if the clause is activated.
In your view, should Man Utd splash £71million to sign Jules Kounde in the summer transfer window?
