Report – Man Utd very well positioned to sign £70million forward – Face competition

Osimhen Nigeria and Lille forward

Manchester United have been in search of a top class striker for quite some time and Victor Osimhen has been linked with the Red Devils.

Last month, Le10Sport covered an exclusive report and claimed that the Nigerian international is one of the Old Trafford club’s priorities as far as the summer transfer window is concerned.

Transfer: Man United could offer huge terms to steal signing of £61million versatile forward

More recently, the well-known French source have published another exclusive story and claimed that Man Utd are very well positioned to sign the forward, who could leave Lille for a mammoth fee of 80 million euros (£70million).

The 20-time English champions are not the only Premier League side interested in hiring his services. Le10Sport have claimed that Liverpool have recently initiated talks to sign the 21-year-old striker and even Chelsea are looking to lure him.

So, United face heavy competition from Champions League teams. Who will win the race? We shall see.

Last season, Osimhen netted 20 goals in all competitions for Charleroi (on loan) and the Belgian side opted to make his move permanent. However, in the summer, he was sold to Lille.

The African starlet has been fantastic for the Ligue 1 side in the current campaign. In all competitions, he scored 18 goals and provided 6 assists in 38 appearances before COVID-19 took matters in its hands.

Yesterday, France’s Prime Minister announced that there will be no sporting events in the country until September. In such a scenario, the Ligue 1 revealed that on 30th April, the Board of Directors will meet and formally decide to end the 2019-20 campaign. Will there be a winner? Only time will tell.

As far as Man Utd’s strike-force is concerned, Martial, who has mainly played as the center forward this season, is not an out and out striker. On the other hand, Ighalo, who was signed on loan in the winter, is a veteran and a short term fix.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to sell Lukaku in the summer last year and the Norwegian manager has not properly replaced the Belgian as yet. So, he must move to sign a proven quality forward this summer.

In your view, should Man Utd splash £70million to sign Victor Osimhen from Lille?
