However, as per the latest update, Fernandes has extended his stay at Man Utd and will become one of the highest earners at the club.

According to The Sun, the Seleccao playmaker has agreed a three year deal that will make him earn at least £350,000 a week, £54.6million until 2027.

Renowned Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has also confirmed that the 29-year-old attacking midfielder has agreed fresh terms of a three year contract with the Premier League giants.

Fernandes was taking home around £240,000 a week and deserved a pay rise as he has been one of the best and arguably the most consistent players under Dutch manager, Erik ten Hag.

The former Sporting CP star netted 15 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions last term and he set up the decisive goal against Manchester City to win the FA Cup.

Manchester United need their skipper to be at his best if they are to achieve even more success in the 2024-25 campaign.

Yesterday, he featured for full 90 minutes in the Community Shield contest vs Man City and successfully slotted his spot kick in the net. However, the Sky Blues eventually won the penalty shoot-out.
