Manchester United have to improve the quality and depth of their attacking department in the summer transfer window and a former Liverpool star in the form of Philippe Coutinho has been linked.
The Brazilian international was a superstar at Anfield before he opted to move to Barcelona in January 2018. He was supposed to replace Andres Iniesta at the Nou Camp but lately, he has been out of form and Valverde opts to bench him on and off.
According to reports (ESPN), the Catalan giants are prepared to let the Samba star leave should they receive an offer in excess of £90million.
Transfer: Man Utd can finally agree £50million signing of versatile player after failing years back
More recently, renowned Spanish outlet AS reported that to get rid of Coutinho, the reigning La Liga champions have lately offered him to Manchester United, however, so far, the PL giants have not taken the bait.
This season, he has only scored 4 times in 26 league games for Barca. He scored his last league goal versus Real Madrid back in October 2018 and his last league assist was against Eibar in January.
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old South American has proved his worth in the Premier League. He was arguably Liverpool’s best player and directly contributed in 20 goals in 19 games last season before departing the club.
Moreover, he is in his peak years and would definitely be a quality signing for any team. Still, as far as United are concerned, I think Coutinho would not tarnish his reputation at Anfield by moving to the Red Devils.
So, the Old Trafford club should ignore the former Inter Milan playmaker and must look at other options to strengthen the offense.
